My question involves criminal law for the state of: Louisiana
Is a pretrial sanity/competency hearing open to the public in the state of Louisiana? The reason I am asking is because my sister’s ex-boyfriend tried to kill her and is charged with aggravated 2nd degree battery, he has sanity/competency hearing on June 21st ,2017 and I would like to attend to hear what is said. He was released from Eastern Louisiana Mental Health System, Forensic Division and transferred back to JPCC on May 12th,2017.
It should also be noted that I am a witness in this case as well.
